A First World War "Bushire Force" MC Group of Four Medals, awarded to 83457 Captain Charles Lindsay Wallace, Intelligence Officer, I.A.R.O., G.S.O.III.(India), comprising Military Cross, British War Medal, Defence Medal (MID), and General Service Medal 1918-62 with clasp S.PERSIA, the last three named CAPT.C.L.WALLACE., with research material. Footnote:- Charles Lindsay Wallace was born in South Africa November 22nd 1887. He was educated at Merchant Taylors' School, London and Brasenose College, Oxford. He was awarded the Military Cross "for gallantry and determined devotion to duty on the night of October 27th/28th when he executed a daring reconnaissance of the route from Borasjien to Lardeh? Valley, and on October 31st, the column to which he was attached being surrounded and unable to withdraw, he carried information of the fact to the main body, having to traverse many miles of difficult country and at the outset to cross open ground swept by enemy's close range fire."
