Example with sunset - In fully restored condition. Covered in a layer of surface dirt and discoloured varnish. Surface is slightly abraded overall as a result of the restoration process. Panel appears sound, very slight convex profile. Minor abrasion to lower left-hand corner. Notable patch of restoration to top edge centre approx 7cm by 1cm at widest point. Other sporadic patches including upper right-hand corner extending down to right-hand side with a more comprehensive likely swaive of incongruous paint or restoration. All of which has a chalky quality and covers a good proportion of the right-hand side sky and sea, possibly to a lesser extent to left-hand side sky (see images). Fine stable cracquelure. Very fine and sporadic retouches within lower right hand corner and across the foreground with some fine and delicate strengthening to the outlines of the ship and figure group. Retouching to upper right-hand corner. AF.

Example with choppy waters - In fully restored condition. Various restoration across surface with areas of cleaning and retouching which is visible by eye and has an incongruous and chalky-coloured appearance (see images). Variation of colour around artist's signature, (see images). Some general abrasion to surface. Surface dirt and discoloured varnish. Sporadic retouches to sky within the left-hand side edges of the upper edges of the darker-coloured clouds towards upper right-hand corner. Further retouches to lower right-hand corner and within the sea along the lower edge and right-hand side foreground. Panel or board is essentially sound. AF.
