In a fully restored condition. Relined, cleaned, and revarnished. There is general retouching t upper left hand corner, along essentially the entirety of the left hand side edge and top edge with more consistent/larger areas within the upper left hand corner and a larger not entirely consistent area again to upper right hand corner & approx.. 30-40% of the sky and background. The right-hand side edge has also been retouched as has the majority of the lower edge. There is a small amount of more linear retouching to old craquelure above the trees on the right-hand side and trees within the central area. There are several other patches of retouching and strengthening within the foreground including the area between the timber strut and the figure at work, on the timber logs. Another area approx. centre below the group of children which is not entirely consistent but covers an overall area of approx. 10cm by 5cm and some general enhancement of some of the shadows within the foreground and more delicate and darker elements of the foliage in general. Some surface dirt and discoloured varnish. The paint is slightly thin in places and some of the impasto has been flattened by the restoration process. Fine stable isolated patches of craquelure. Some of the retouching is visible with the eye. Otherwise in a good and stable state of preservation.
