. Re-lined, cleaned and re-varnished. There has been relatively minor retouching to the upper left hand corner and edges in general with sporadic further fine retouches throughout the sky. Th outline of the horse has essentially been delicately strengthened and there is a band around the horses head approx 1-1.5 cm in width which indicates overpainting. A slightly more consistent albeit still sporadic level of retouching to presumably old flaked paint or craquelure is also in evidence throughout the foreground. Some surface dirt and discoloured varnish. Odd isolated patch of fine stable craquelure. Some of the areas of the surface are slightly flattened by the restoration process but a good degree of original brush work and impasto remains. In an overall good state of condition.

Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
