Sold for £1,300
Estimated at £500 - £800

. Re-lined, cleaned and re-varnished. Some general and minor retouching to edges. There are three linear fine and minor areas of retouching within the background towards the far left hand side edge. Each approx 8-10 cm in length. Some of the outline/definition of the horse has been strengthened including minor parts of the mane, ear and eye. Both the background and foreground displays a reasonably low amount of general retouching and restoration, particularly within the shadows and defining brush strokes of the hay, darker areas of the background in general and also the redundant horses rug in the lower right hand corner. The centrally placed title for the horse has likely been strengthened. Some surface dirt and discoloured varnish. Paint slightly thin in some areas of the background and canvas slightly flattened from the restoration process but generally retaining a reasonable integrity. There is a Z shaped mark scratched into what appears to be wet paint at the time of execution on the horses back. In an overall good and stable state of preservation.

We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a Condition Report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
