Unlined commercially prepared canvas on an old stretcher, keyed far out, and one key has dropped behind the bottom stretcher causing a slight distortion at the front of the painting. Slighly slack tension. All original margins covered.

There is brittle age craquelure, and impact and stretcher bar cracks throughout, including diagonal cracks at corners. The paint is only slighly cupped and elevated in places (mostly where protected by the stretcher), but much of the craking has lifted into very tight peaks, which are sharp and actively flaking in places with tiny losses. These have been made more prominent by dirt accumulations. No other major losses or abrasion apparent.

We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
