Full leather gilt, a.e.g; 240 plates across 4 vols (I: 55; II: 65; III: 60; IV: 60). Subscriber edition - proofs on large paper (ink inscrip. on subscriber's page identifying this as Copy 4 of Mr Edwards, Halifax prior to publication of part I) with two armorial bookplates to upper pastedowns (R. Towenley Parker and Reginald Arthur Tatton, the books likely passed with the ownership of Cuerden Hall). Whitaker, Thomas History and Antiquities of the Deanery of Craven. Leeds: Joseph Dodgson; London: Cassell Petter & Galpin, 1878. 4to (bound in 2 vols). Full calf, boards with triple gilt-fillet borders with floral corner-pieces enclosing blind roll-tooled border, spines gilt in compartments with contrasting morocco lettering pieces in two, gilt roll-tooled edges, blind roll-tooled turn-ins, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers; Vol I: 33 plates, 2 maps (one folding), 24 folding pedigrees, illus. to text; Vol II: 22 plates, 5 folding pedigrees, 2 hand-coloured geographical sections (all as called for in binder's instructions); two armorial bookplates as above. Third edition, with many additions and corrections. Gotch, J. Alfred Old Halls and Manor Houses of Northamptonshire, B.T. Batsford, 1936 and Squire's Homes and Old Buildings of Northamptonshire, B.T. Batsford, 1939. Both sometime bound in similar half crushed morocco (red and blue), spines gilt in compartments, top edges gilt, marbled endpapers; numerous photographic plates.

Lodge Vol III with loss of head of spine and detached boards otherwise a solid set in scuffed binding, generally clean internally with some foxing to plates, mostly marginal. Whitaker binding with some scuffing and rubbing, small loss to upper board of I, some occasional, variable foxing and offsetting but otherwise clean internally, tear to pedigree of Clifford of Skipton with no loss. Gotch spines a touch faded, binding with some marking and scuffing, foxing to edges, slight foxing internally but generally clean.
