On original canvas, general surface dirt and discoloured varnish now in evidence. Frame rubbing to edges, most notable to upper left corner with some associated paint losses. There are several patches of fine stable cracquelure, to upper left corner, sitters decolletage and more broadly across the lower third of the picture. There are several horizontal lines/creases running across the entire length of the canvas. The horizontal cracking across the sitters body may require prompt intervention. Visible stretcher shadow. The sitter's face and hands have been extensively and roughly overpainted. Areas of her dress similarly have been crudely overpainted.
