The New Moon: A Large Circa 1890's Wooden Fan, the monture simply decorated in gold with meandering leaves and fruit. The strong yellow gauze leaf has a colourful top border which repeats this theme, and to the left as the New Moon rises, cattle and a horse stand at rest, in the fields, near water. The verso is plain. Guard length 35cm; and The Fishing Expedition: A Circa 1860's Bone Fan, with elaborately carved monture, the gorge in particular having overlapping sticks forming additional patterns. The double paper leaf, lithographed, shows an 18th century outdoor gathering, a gentleman in sumptuous long silk jacket holding a small girl who appears to be reaching into a tree, the grand stone urn and balustrade visible behind them. Ladies are seated, three seemingly engaged in conversation, another, to the left, with a small dog on her knee, being petted by an elderly gentleman with malformed posture. The verso shows four figures by water, a timbered house behind, more habitation in the distance. Guard length 27cm (2)

Fan 1 - Verso fabric very slightly crumpled near bottom edge. Fan 2 - Both guards are attached but broken. The leaf next to each is torn and may or not be fully complete.
