An Unusual Painted Wooden 19th Century Cockade, the leaf concealed for protection inside the frame, pulled to open by a blue string attached to the top, closed by pulling the other end of the string which comes out of the bottom of the shaped handle. The cream pleated paper leaf is decorated with a design of birds and flowers on the recto and flowers sprays to the verso. The wood is painted with a figure on each side in soft orange, yellow and turquoise. Overall length when closed 23cm, and when open 27cm
