A delightful display of the 1864-79 penny reds with circular datestamp postmarks, over 450 stamps in generally excellent quality organised by plate number in a large stockbook, almost all plates represented up to 223, with many eye-catching multiples. The datestamped highlights include Ballina (Mayo, Ireland) on plate 116 block of four, Fintona (Tyrone, N.Ireland) on two plate 123 blocks of twelve, Covent Garden Market on plate 129 block of twelve, Shepley on plate 130 block of twelve, Fintona again on plate 139 block of four with contiguous pair and three singles used together as ‘block’ of nine, Spennymoor on plate 151 block of twelve, Wet-Dock Ipswich on plate 153 block of four, etc. Also a few non-cds items at the back of the book incl. block of 21 (plate 160). Very few faults. An impressive collection that would be most enjoyable to continue building. Recommended viewing.
