A George III Silver Chamber-Candlestick
by Nathaniel Smith and Co., Sheffield, 1810, The Nozzle by Smiths, Tate and Co., Sheffield, Circa 1810

the base shaped circular and with shell and foliage heightened gadrooned border, the shell-cast socket with conforming detachable nozzle, with shell-capped handle, engraved with an initial ‘S’ below a Royal duke’s coronet
15.2cm diameter, 11oz 1dwt, 343gr

The initial is that of Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex (1773-1843).

Fully marked underneath and further part marked on nozzle. There is some wear to the marks underneath. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The handle has perhaps been reattached. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points. The extinguisher is lacking and there is a space for snuffer scissors which are also lacking.
