A Victorian Silver Vinaigrette
by Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham, 1842

shaped oblong, the hinged cover, base and sides with differing engine-turning, the cover further engraved with initials within a foliage scroll cartouche, opens to reveal a foliage and flower pierced and engraved hinged grille, engraved inside the cover with initials and 'Remember'

Part marked inside base and cover. The grille marked with maker's mark only. The marks are generally clear, though the maker's mark on the grille has been partly pierced through. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is a bruise to the base and another to the cover.
