A Gothic Revival Fan, the leaf mounted on white mother-of-pearl, the monture possibly older than the hand coloured lithographed leaf. The recto shows a medieval hawking expedition, leaving and returning to a castle, with horse, dogs, handlers, and a lady and her Knight. Smaller vignettes show the bird handler with a colourful bird, and in the reserves six monks stand beneath stylised buildings with spiked architectural detail. The verso, with a central cartouche showing a musician playing to a lady seated in a throne, has reserves in gold featuring figures from the Commedia dell'arte, dancing on pillars. A monogram signature is visible, "AE". Guard length 10.75 inches or 27.5cm
