A Set of 6 x Sterling Silver Proof Ingots, 'First United Kingdom Referendum June 5th 1975' struck by the Birmingham Mint to commemorate the Referendum on UK Membership of the European Community; the ingots depict, in frosted relief, the Houses of Parliament, the European Commission headquarters & the Parliamentary & National Assembly buildings of the then other 8 members of the European Community. Each ingot weighs 31.9g; the set also includes a proof sterling silver medal (wt 49.2g) with the referendum question & the number of votes cast for and against on the reverse; total silver weight 7 1/2 troy oz; with cert & original newspaper cutting advertising the set dated Monday June 2nd 1975, in fitted case of issue (some foxing inside lid), some light toning o/wise as struck
