Fully marked underneath. The marks are generally clear with only some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use.

Auction: Antiques & Interiors, 17th Nov, 2023

The 17th November Antiques and Interiors Sales features a good mix of affordable traditional art, antiques, and collectables, and in addition will include a range of fine musical boxes by the like of Nicole Freres, Royal Crown Derby, Modern Steiff bears, a section of books and maps including the Library of Dr John Yule, and a good offering of period and modern jewellery, totaling over 160 lots including gem-set rings, gold necklaces and much more.

The sale will also feature almost 200 lots of silver and objects of vertu, offering a huge range of items which could adorn the Christmas table or would make a wonderful gift. The silver section includes a wide range of English silver by Georgian makers such as the esteemed Hester Bateman, John Schofield and John Emes as well as 20th century silversmiths such as Mappin and Webb, Walker and Hall, Omar Ramsden and Charles Boyton.

There are also interesting items made around the world, including pieces from Germany (Lot 4, a Nef), Italy (Lot 9, which includes a goblet from South Italy), Norway (Lot 15, a charming cream jug and sugar bowl & Lot 16, a bowl by David Anderson), the Netherlands (Lot 36, a bell), Denmark (Lot 149, a Georg Jensen dish) and America (Lot 90, a group of Palm pattern flatware by Tiffany and Co.).

There is a strong offering of flatware including serving pieces and a number of caddy spoons. The objects of vertu include highly collectable items such a butt markers, nutmeg-graters and other boxes and more unusual items such as a lancet-case.
