. Departing for a days hunting - In fully restored condition. Fairly stiffly re-lined, cleaned and re-varnished. The surface has been somewhat flattened and the paint is thin in places owing to the restoration process. Slight stretcher shadow. Craquelure throughout surface which is more pronounced in some areas. Very subtle bulge along lower edge. There is reasonably minor retouching to all edges. There has been retouching to presumably old flaked paint of a fairly inconsistent manner throughout the left half. The retouching and strengthening is broadly more consistent within the right hand side with more consistent areas of overpainting within the foreground to describe the darker tones and shadows. There is a likely broadly rectangularly shaped patch of consistent retouching within the upper parts of the sky immediately right of the building on the left hand side. And another small more consistent rectangular patch of overpainting along top edge right hand side above the clouds. A successful chase - In fully restored condition. Fairly stiffly re-lined, cleaned and re-varnished. . The surface has been somewhat flattened and the paint is thin in places owing to the restoration process. Slight stretcher shadow. Craquelure throughout surface which is more pronounced in some areas. Very subtle bulge along upper and lower edges. There has been fairly consistent retouching throughout the entire surface to replace old flaked paint including the stretcher shadow, a large part of the dog/dogs, darker tones and elements throughout the figures, horses, landscape in general, the hat of the gentleman wearing the red jacket has received more intensive treatment. The rider of the horse again has received more thorough and intensive treatment as has the standing figure on the far right. The edges have broadly been retouched and the background in the upper right hand quarter generally displays more consistent retouching that the left hand side. Some surface dirt and discoloured varnish now in evidence to each.
