A Second World War Escape and Evasion Kit, as issued prior to the D.Day landings to CJX391761 Lt. Cdr. John William Sherwood (b.30.01.1923, d.30.01.2020), comprising a Royal Navy button compass by Gaunt, a small escape compass, a "scratch-off" dress stud escape compass, a pencil clip compass (with a small indentation punched into the back of the arm at the centre of balance allowing it to point North), two silk escape maps of France, Germany and Europe, two French and three German bank notes.
