A 19th Century Jenny Lind or Palmette Fan, heavily decorated in gold on cream découpé panels,...

A 19th Century Jenny Lind or Palmette Fan, heavily decorated in gold on cream découpé panels, formed with leaves and convolvulus flowers and mounted on lightly pierced and clouté bone sticks. The verso is plain. Together with A Late 19th Century Black Silk Satin Fan, mounted on black painted wood, the double leaf painted with a spray of small white blossom with yellow centres, and leaves. The verso is plain black cotton; and A Third Fan, the bone monture pierced and clouté, the leaf of pale green silk, painted with a hopeful maiden visiting Cupid, who is stoking the flames of love. The leaf is embroidered recto/verso with silver spangles in several shapes and sizes. Guard length approx. 8.5 inches or 22cm (3)

. The Palmette fan is in good order, the gold shiny. The lower guard on the black fan is broken down near the rivet and the backing fabric is detached from the guard. The third fan monture is lacking some of the clouté. Clumsy repair to the upper guard. Some light splitting to the leaf. Light soiling on the verso.
