Two Early 20th Century Lace Fans, the first of plain pink mother-of-pearl, bone ribs supporting a cream silk leaf of Maltese bobbin lace. Formed with two bands of lace, the upper section is designed with flowers formed from wheatears, alternating with roundels filled with a lattice, the upper edge scalloped. Centrally, the characteristic Maltese Cross. On the lower, wider band, meandering stems and leaves emerge from both sides to meet in the middle. Fitted with a cream silk tassel. Contained in a green card fan box, the inner lid stating "Dickens and Jones Ltd. Fan Specialist. Regent Street, London W". Guard length 7.7/8 inches or 20cm. The second fan consists of a tapelace leaf, backed with a fine net, with design and fillings that most likely indicate Branscome lace. Gold sequins are embroidered here and there. The upper guard is carved and pierced with cornflowers, lightly coloured in blue. Guard length 8.5 inches or 21.5cm.

Sold for £140
Estimated at £90 - £120

. The Maltese fan is in good order. On the box lid, in pen, it says “Lace from Kit & ????”. The second fan's tassel is wearing thin.
