Collection in a clean de-luxe Windsor album from a Scottish estate, concentrating on pre-1930 issues, especially 19th century with many very attractive stamps assembled with quality in mind. Highlights are three penny blacks with four-margins incl. worn plate, beautiful 2d blue (plate 2) with generous and balanced margins all round and light cancel, many perf 'stars' varieties on extra pages, some superb used, incl. SG.17 strip of four, SG.22 wmk inverted, SG.25, circular town and Scottish Street cancels, etc. Then later 1d plates set to 225, selected copies with virtually no faults, the 225 absolutely sound with neat cancel, followed by 1854 6d embossed with two four-margin shades and a good range of surface-printed again with quality generally well above the usual. Later reigns less intensive, nevertheless including Bradbury Wilkinson seahorses with decent used trio of 2/6d shades and 10/- superb cds (shadow of cancellation on top perfs - not thin as it could appear in the photo), as well as the 1929 £1 PUC mint with relatively fresh gum. Much more here to inspect. (NB: the rest of this set of six albums - empty - are in Lot 168).
