1841 1d red-brown plate 9 position Q-F, unused (or partial disturbed gum), four margins showing edges of the adjoining stamps at bottom and right, crucially including the close-to-left 'Q' of the neighbouring Q-G position of plate 9. Possible repair in margin at lower-right corner, nevertheless clean appearance (the darker areas of profile are blueing showing through) and a highly collectable example of a scarce unused 'black' plate printing. Cat. £5,000.
