John Miers and Studio (18th/19th century): Portrait Silhouette of a Gentleman, wearing period Regency costume, his hair decorated with a bow, facing left, bearing the remains of the original profilist's label, black ink possibly on plaster, oval, 8.5cm by 6.5cm, and Two further examples, one of a lady facing left with original Miers trade label verso and bearing an inscription 'Nursling in Hants, this copied 1st June 1818, A.C' and another bearing the remains of a Miers Leeds trade label verso, both oval, various sizes (3)

Two in original verre églomisé mounts. There is a yellow stain around the head and hair of the first example (lady facing right), with further areas of small dirt and a stain at the edge of the plaster on the right hand side near the gilt metal oval mount. The other two also have some dirt trapped between the underside of the glass and the picture. The black enamelling or painting on the verre églomisé mount is missing in places. In original black lacquered frames with some staining and dirt. The first silhouette has the original gilt metal oval inset mount and with original hanging device as an acorn and oak leaves. The other two have straight forward hanging rings.
