Taxidermy: A Victorian Cased Kirk's Dik Dik (Madoqua kirkii), circa 1899-1902, by Henry Ward, Late Williams, 2 Vere Street, Oxford Street, London, a full mount in walking pose, stood upon painted faux groundwork, amidst natural brush and grass, set against a pale blue painted interior, enclosed within a typical large ebonised single-glass display case, 61cm by 24cm by 60.5cm, including framed photocopy letter "The mounted Dik Dik was the property of a Major B Johnson Smith who fought in the Boer War 1899-1902. The animal became the camp mascot and unfortunately died from causes unknown. The body was returned to London and mounted, it was retained within the family until the sale of the family estate"
