A George I Silver Inkstand, Maker's Mark IB, Possibly for John Barbot, London, 1726, oblong, with spatulate handle and on four fluted panel feet, the two removable pots each with pull-off cover, one pierced with foliage scrolls, the other with a central opening, with a detachable cylindrical taperstick with reeded border, 13.5cm wide, 7oz 18dwt

. Fully marked on base with leopards head, lion passant and date letter in long compartment, lion passant and maker's mark in central compartment and lion passant in each of the other two compartments and near rim. The taperstick marked with lion passant, the two pots each marked with lion passant inside. One cover further marked with lion passant. In generally good condition with only some minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use.
