A Silver and Enamel Buckle, Possibly Austrian, Early 20th Century, oval and with purple enamel, 85mm wide; Together With a silver and enamel-mounted cut-glass dressing-table jar, with English import marks for Mappin and Webb, 45mm wide (2)

The dressing-table jar fully marked near rim. There is a further European mark on the other side. There are some overall surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some minor chips to the glass bottle.

Auction: Antiques & Interiors, 20th Oct, 2023

Part I of the Antiques and Interiors Sale on 20th October will begin at 9:30am with a specialist section of Silver. This will be followed by the usual run of Ceramics and Glass, including Chinese and Japanese porcelain ginger jars, vases, and chargers; Staffordshire Pottery zebras, Herend Porcelain birds and paperweights by St. Louis and Baccarat, to name just a few highlights. Also included will be a large section of affordable watches and jewellery from mourning brooches and dress rings to gold bracelets and pendants.

Part II, which also begins at 9:30am with lot 1000, will comprise paintings, rugs, furniture and a large quantity of books from the libraries of  Dr John Senior and of York historian Hugh Murray including local history, botany, geology and palaeontology.

The sale will also include selected items sold on behalf of the Terry Family of York (Terry’s Chocolates), these items are denoted throughout the catalogue with a ~
