Captain William Hoyle, Royal Navy:- A large quantity of interesting ephemera spanning his career from 1942 to 1970, when he was placed on the Retired list with honorary rank of Captain on 28th March 1970, following a medical survey. The collection includes photographs, personal letters, letters of promotion and appointments to various ships including HMS Osprey, Hawke, Surprise, President, Pembroke I, Warrior, Alert, Drake, and Bulwark, various invitations, a Visitors Book inscribed Tripoli 1968, two photograph albums, his Naval Pay & Identity Book etc., also three mohair cap bands with two raised bullion thread badges, various buttons, an oil portrait of him by John Clarke, Nov.1951, and two Merchant Navy ship's plaques to Wakeful and Sir Gerald Gladstone
