A Commemorative Fan, produced in 1895 for the XIII exhibition in Bordeaux, France, the printed double paper leaf mounted on simple wooden sticks depicting recognised sights and monuments in the city. Produced by P Lemenil, Asnières (Seine) The verso is printed with a variety of advertising for products varying from perfume to sanitary appliances. The company of Lemenil was known for printing posters during the Belle Époque. Guard length 11.75 inches or 30cm; and A Late 19th Century Fan, advertising the Spa town of Vichy with local scenes and publicity. Mounted on wooden sticks, the double paper leaf is stamped "Café de la Restauration" on the verso. Printed by Oberthur Rennes Paris, issued by the fan maker J Ganne, Paris. The large printing company Oberthur was based in Rennes stated up in 1852, and produced most of the publicity for the rail "Compagnie des chemins de fer de L'Ouest", well known for their fans which advertised rail travel. Guard length 10.75 or 27.5cm (2)

Fan 1 - Nicks to most folds, the leaf split where it meets the right hand guard, monture sound. Fan 2 - Good. Good colour, clean and crisp.
