Four out of the six have rather faded backgrounds, the backgrounds having turned rather yellow, with some foxing and staining. They all have dirt trapped between the underside of the glass and the paper. All contained within their original black ebony and lacquered frames with gilt metal inset surrounds, four with original gilt metal hanging devices, decorated with acorns and oak leaves, a thistle and rose with foliate decoration, and one in the shape of almost an acanthus leaf. There are some indentations and various stains and cracks to some of the frames, as well as dirt. Five only are black lacqured frames, one is polished wood with a gilt metal inset surround.
