A Japanese Edo Period Suit of Armour of the Tokugawa Clan, 18th Century, comprising: a Kabuto (helmet) of sixty two ribbed plates, with copper and white metal maedate of upcurved form, the peak with foliate chased rim, the turn-backs and tehen each set with the mon of Tokugawa, the four lame shikoro (neck guard) with maroon lacing; Mempo (half mask) with five lame neck guard and backed by a carved and white painted wood grimacing face mask; a pair of Kote (gauntlets), each of lacquered chain mail applied with silver mons and lacquer fluted panels, with laced silk brocade sleeve and terminating with lacquered tekko; a Do (chest and back protector) of five hinged iron panels lacquered and made to simulate lemellae; Kusazuri (armoured skirt) and Haidate (thigh protectors) of laced lames and silk brocade, all mounted on a wood stand (sode missing)
