A Late 19th Century Japanese Fan, the sticks of wood, the gorge plain, the narrow guards with slight gold decoration, their tips splaying wider to emulate the form of a Suehiro Ogi (wide ended-fan). The double paper leaf, of sea green, is painted with large white flowers with yellow centres, amidst a profusion of dark green leaves. To the left, a bird with grey and black feathers and white gorge about to land amidst the flowers, to join a similar perched bird. The verso is similar with less decoration, the two birds in flight. Both sides of the leaf have slashes of gold paint to highlight the reserves. Guard length 33.5cm; and A 19th Century Japanese Fan, with bone guards, with a simple painted image of a bird in flight, in a dark gingery red. The cream leaf is painted with an oriental lady and young girl wearing kimonos, strolling under a slender tree with drooping blossom To their right, on a stretch of water, a junk containing two Oriental women and a child. Guard length 26cm (2)

Fan 1 - Rubbed folds and some marks to the right of the verso. Fan 2 - One minor tear to the gauze. Paint on the guard is rubbed.
