In an overall good and stable state of preservation. Cleaned and re varnished. Some surface dirt and discoloured varnish now in evidence. There is very delicate retouching on the right hand side upper edge. The odd very sporadic area of flaked paint within the upper right hand sky also having been retouched. There is a patch of fine retouching along the upper edge, slightly left of the tree which is not painted as a block but has an overall surface area of approximately 2cm by 2.5cm. Further tiny and sporadic retouches to other areas of flaked paint within the sky on the left hand side. General retouching to edges with a slightly more consistent band no more than 0.3mm wide just above the horizon on the left hand side and is approximately 8cm in length. Delicate infilling to general central sky area above the buildings and small circular patch approximately 0.5cm wide within the trees and foliage. The paint is possibly slightly thin in places, especially within the blue tones of the sky. Otherwise in overall good and stable condition.

We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a Condition Report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition. All lots are available on public view ahead of an auction and we encourage prospective buyers to inspect an item in person where possible. Our Condition Reports are not prepared by professional conservators, restorers, or engineers, and are prepared with the naked eye unless otherwise stated.

Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
