In fully restored condition. Abrasively cleaned. Patch of re-touching and overpainting at approx centre of sky which is approx 3cms in diameter. Further heavier and consistent over painting to the grey of the clouds in the sky in the upper let hand corner and elsewhere. There has been infilling and general strengthening along the horizon and around the outline of the buildings and less consistently in the upper right hand corner of the background and sky. Some further general strengthening to the darker tones and shadows of the sails of the vessels, the vegetation and the barges within the foreground. There has been general treatment of the background, most likely at different periods. Two full width horizontal splits/ evident planks to reverse with old repair and visible to the eye at the front where the surface is not consistent. The paint is thin and the surface is fairly scrubbed in various places where the grain of the wood is evident. Surface dirt and discoloured varnish.

Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
