Michael Dahl was a Swedish portrait painter who lived and worked in England for most of his career. His success and prominence as a leading light in the artistic world was attested by securing many illustrious commissions for portraits, including Queen Anne of Great Britain, Queen Christina of Sweden and Prince George of Denmark, in addition to many members of the British Royal Court and aristocracy.
His work is remarkable in depicting the subject in a full length pose, which creates an added presence and sense of importance to the overall impression
