This edition uses the revised form of the Geneva New Testament (based on a study of Beza's 1565 version) produced in 1576 by politician, author and translator Laurence Tomson. The original work was dedicated to Sir Francis Walsingham, whose Personal Secretary Tomson was. According to Herbert "This became the final and popular form of the Geneva Testament" (Herbert 146). As well as Tomson's Calvinist theology, the translation is marked by an exaggeration of Beza's tendency to an overly mannered rendering of the Greek article - most dramatically in John iii.7 "In the beginning was that Word, and that Word was with God, and that Word was God". It also included a translation of Beza's summaries of doctrine, positioning the translator squarely with the disciples of Calvin. (See Lot 1 for Breeches Bible and Lot 17 for Beza) Herbert 244.
