Lot 37 of 269: Taxidermy: Spur-Winged Goose (Plectropterus gambensis), modern, South Africa, female full mount stood with head raised and slightly to the left, stood upon a square hardwood base, overall height 59cm This species of Goose is poisonous if eaten by humans and can be fatal, its main diet of Blister beetles contains the poison Cantharidin, which is held within the tissues of the fowl and if cooked and eaten just 10mg of Cantharidin can be fatal in humans
