George III: An ivory Fan, circa 1760's, the monture simply carved on the upper guards. The double paper leaf is découpé along the top border and sides, the design incorporating four crowns and GRIII. The centre is painted with a scene of rural workers harvesting the hay. The verso Is painted with a rose and buds with foliage. Guard length 11 inches or 28cm

King George III was nicknamed Farmer George.

Exhibited at Harewood House in the summer of 1986 catalogue No 12.

The silver paper is a little dull, the découpé is in good order
