The London Taxi Company was a taxi design and manufacturing company based in Coventry England. It formerly traded as London Taxis International and Carbodies. The iconic London taxi took many forms over the last hundred years and with the introduction of the TX1 in 1996 the classic coach built humble taxi stylised by its then designer 'Kenneth Grange', keeping much of the characteristics of the FX4 it was lighter and easier to drive. It was now also powered by a Nissan diesel unit.
Upon completion, it was submitted to cab drivers for their approval and won their acceptance as sufficiently maintaining the spirit of the London cab.
This early example of the TX1 is in fine condition with gleaming coachwork and traditional interior. Mechanically it's said to be in very good shape, showing 330,000 miles on the odometer, by some owners represents the running in period as many London Taxis successful pass the one million miles mark long before they cease loyal service.
Perfect for the job intended or for promotional purposes, this lovely example has many miles left in it and is sure to crack a smile wherever the taxi goes.
