Taxidermy: A Victorian Cased Silver Pheasant (Lophura nycthemera), 1879-1904, by George Butt, F.Z.S, Taxidermist to the Royal Family, 49 Wigmore Street, London, full mount cock bird with tail displayed full length behind, stood upon painted faux rock work, amidst a natural setting of ferns, tall grasses, leaves and fauna, set against a watercolour painted interior, enclosed within a large ebonised single-glass display case, 91.5cm by 30.5cm by 61cm, taxidermist's full paper trade label to interior lower left. George Butt previously held a position as general manager to Edwin Ward (Rowland Ward's elder brother), he continued to trade under the same name after Edwin's retirement in 1879, but later moved to 39 Edgware Road around 1904.
