A Fine and Unusual Ivory Fan, circa 1730, the guards carved with a figure in Turkish dress, a shell and a flower, and with the addition of mother-of-pearl tips and thumb guards. Fairly bulbous head. The colourfully painted double leaf depicts an elegant couple dancing to the music of a flute player, a castle in the background, surrounded by beasts, including a turkey, a peacock, water birds, horned animals and cattle. The verso is painted with a stork, insects and birds. Guard length 11.75 inches or 30cm

Generally very good. Some tiny nicks to the top of some folds and some very slight loss to the paper bottom left of the recto. Slight rubbing to the folds but the leaf is generally crisp.
