An Early 20th Century Paper Fan. with a double paper leaf, bearing a print by Thor, graphic artist and illustrator c 1900, depicting a couple relaxing over an aperitif at a café table, the corpulent bartender watching from the doorway of the "Coeur Fleuri" with his black cat seated to his left. The verso advertises "L'Anis de Toro" and describes it as "Le meilleur" (the best). Printed by Chambrelent, Paris; and A 20th Century Fan, of bone with cream gauze leaf, painted and embroidered in white floss thread with a design of chrysanthemums and foliage. Contained in a box printed with the label "Kardomah" Teas and Coffees. Your Kind recommendations will be esteemed".
Fan 1: Overall height 9 inches or 23cm, the leaf most unusually paper protruding slightly over the guard
Fan 2: Guard length 6 inches or 15cm (2)

The company that created the Kardomah brand began in Pudsey Street Liverpool in 1844 as the Vey Brothers tea dealers and grocers. The brand was first served in the Liverpool Colonial Exhibition is 1887.
