Between 1971 and 1975, a new 5.3-litre 12-cylinder Jaguar V12 was introduced, with uprated brakes and standard power steering. The short wheelbase fixed head coupé body style was discontinued and the V12 was available only as a convertible and 2+2 coupé. The car was easily identifiable from earlier models by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches and a badge on the rear that proudly states V12.
Weighing only 80lb more than the cast-iron-block 4.2-litre XK six, the new all-alloy, 5.3-litre, overhead-camshaft V12 produced 272bhp, an output good enough for a top speed in excess of 140mph. Further good news was that the 0-100mph time of around 16 seconds made the V12 the fastest-accelerating E-Type ever. Built in two-seat roadster and 2+2 coupé versions, both of which used the long-wheelbase floor pan introduced on the Series 2 2+2, the Series 3 E-Type continued the Jaguar tradition of offering a level of performance and luxury unrivalled at the price.

This 1971 early series three example has been the subject of a full restoration over a twelve year period by its current owner which involved bare metal respray to an excellent standard in period cream. This is backed up with a photographic record of the work to the body. Mechanically to be in A1 order with its fabulous, powerful V12 engine married up to a silky smooth automatic gearbox.

The interior is original and lightly patinated with its original leather seats trimmed in dark blue, together with good headlining and carpets complementing the stunning exterior. With excellent chrome work and sitting on four new Pirelli P4000 tyres this is a truly fabulous and well sorted late E-type ready for the road.
