No.427 "Lion" Squadron RCAF - a DFC Group of Seven Medals, awarded to 136913 Flying Officer John Eric Parkinson, 6 Group, Bomber Command, No.427 Squadron, RCAF, comprising Distinguished Flying Cross dated 1944, 1939-45 Star, Air Crew Europe Star with clasp FRANCE AND GERMANY, Defence Medal, War Medal, General Service Medal with clasp CYPRUS named A.S.P. J.E. PARKINSON.(D.F.C.) and Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal named INSPR.JOHN E.PARKINSON, bar mounted, together with Medal award slip and case of issue for the DFC, and an extensive amount of National Archives photocopied paperwork including two extracts from the Operation Record Book in which he appears as being posted from 1659 Con. unit wef. 20.9.43, and then posted to No.1666 CU. wef. 15.7.44, Details of Work carried out by 427 Squadron from September 1943 to June 1944, and Supplement to the London Gazette 19 September 1944

Footnote:- John Eric Parkinson was a Bomb Aimer, he made thirty one trips of which twenty one were on major targets. He was an outstanding operator of the H.2.S. equipment and as a result was nearly always successful in obtaining a primary and bringing back excellent pictures.
After the war he served in the United Police Unit in Cyprus - Cumberland and Westmorland County Division
