Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), Near Embu, Kenya, March 1934, by Rowland Ward, full mount, in the original glazed wooden case with savannah painted background, signed Rowland Ward London W 1934 on the left front side, with ivorine title plaque within the case at the front, with original Rowland Ward label on the reverse, the cheetah approx 80cm high, 136cm long (direct nose to tail tip), the case 156cm by 53cm by 121.2cm

Provenance: Laurence Cadbury Collection. Part of a collection of mounted big game trophies brought back from Alaska, North America and East Africa in 1913 and 1934 by Laurence Cadbury. Many of his specimens were mounted by Rowland Ward, and were sold by James & Lister Lea in a marquee at "The Davids", Hole Lane, Northfield, Birmingham 17th and 18th November 1988. The cheetah was lot 748 and was illustrated in the catalogue.

Specimen appears to be very good throughout retaining original colour. Background good though a little damp staining, particularly on the left curve upright and a little mould hanging on top left. Some staining from rust from nail heads where the background applied to the rear panels. Some of the moulding around the very base is loose. 17/2/09
