A Small and Dainty Early 20th Century Mother-of Pearl Fan, shaded pink, the monture lightly carved and gilded, the upper guard complementing the design on the gorge. The double cream and coffee gauze leaf is embroidered to the top layer with tiny gold sequins, most bordering the central painted scene of a gentleman holding a conversation with a lady, the latter seated, wearing detailed walking costume. To the reserves, floral sprays of gold and silver sequins, the whole contained in an outer shaped border of sequins and larger spangles. The verso is plain, the ribs mounted à l'Anglaise. Contained in a shaped fan box covered in floral brocade woven in shades of red and brown on cream, edges bound with gold braid. Marked inside, in gold, for "J Duvelleroy, Paris, By Appointment LONDON, 167 Regent Street, 167 Manufactured in Paris". Guard length 7.25 inches or 18.5cm

Sold for £110
Estimated at £90 - £140

. Some brown marking to the gauze. No apparent sequin loss and the monture is sound. Some of the braid needs to be reglued to the box lid, which is dirty.
