A Late 19th Century Female Ostrich Feather Fan, the monture of tortoiseshell, the appearance rather frothy from the centre to the top, where shaved white feathers supplement the others. Overall height 17.5 inches or 44.5cm. Together with a painted fabric fan, late 19th century, the monture of dark wood, the leaf depicting a lady strolling through woodland, her small child holding her hand. Signed to the bottom left "M Smith". Guard length 11.25 inches or 28.5cm; another late 19th century silk fan (a/f), the recto painted with swallows in flight, the verso plain; finally, a glazed cotton fan (a/f), the leaf printed with children wandering their way home from school, wearing various costumes reminiscent of the style of the painter Kate Greenaway (Catherine Greenaway 17 March 1846 - 6 November 1901) who was recognised for her depictions of children in imaginary 18th-century costumes in a Queen Anne style (4)

. Feather fan in good order, the painted fan has a broken gorge stick. The final two fans really relate to the leaves only, for re-mounting or framing as they are, the montures lacking major sections.
