. Mrs Dickie - Is in an overall good and original state of preservation. Relatively light surface dirt and discoloured varnish. Canvas slightly adrift from frame in upper right hand corner and original pin hole evident to upper right hand corner. Odd white coloured small sized splash marks essentially to lower left hand corner and can be easily removed. Canvas every so slightly loose on stretcher. Not presenting any adverse of associated issues. Areas of fine stable craquelure especially within the darker tones of the brown paint. The lower edge of the canvas and frame would appear to have sustained a water? damage along the full length and effects an area of approx 6-7cm at its widest point. Photographs can be supplied. Otherwise in good condition with remaining impasto and brushwork throughout. Mr Dickie - In generally highly comparable condition to his wife. More pronounced and evident fine stable craquelure especially across the face. An amount of relatively minor scratches nicks and scuff marks to upper left hand corner and left hand side edge. Small cluster of further minor surface scratches and gentleman's bent elbow approx 5 on both diagonal, horizontal and vertical, the longest at approx 2cm in length. A greater amount of white coloured splashes mostly contained to lower third of painting (which can be easily removed). Further odd scratch/abrasion to outer edge. There is a similar level of water staining to lower edge of frame and painting in addition to a number of more significant varying directions of scratches and lengths within the lower band of approx 5cm and more concentrated scuffs and scratches to lower right hand corner (images can be provided). Two small pushmarks from reverse right hand side edge which do not puncture canvas but are seen as two small losses of paint approx 7-8cm above signature on right hand side edge. Covered in a relatively light layer of dirt and discoloured varnish.
