The Sunbeam marque was a force to be reckoned with in the 1920s, manufacturing a range of superb quality cars appealing to the discerning motorist. Introduced at the 1923 Olympia Motor Show, the 20/60 was based around a substantial ladder frame chassis equipped with leaf-sprung suspension (semi-elliptic front / cantilever rear) and four-wheel drum brakes. First registered in Newport Pagnell in December 1928, an exceptionally original car, still retaining the sill plates showing that it was built at the Morfield Works in Wolverhampton. The six-cylinder engine was fully rebuilt in 1972 with new pistons and a reground crank. It comes with a small amount of history including bills for the engine rebuild, a copy of the original buff logbook, a green continuation logbook from the 1950s and a modern V5C. Hand-painted many years ago and still retaining its original black leather interior, it can be enjoyed as it is, but would no doubt respond well to some cosmetic improvement. Accompanied with the car is a large history file, copies of parts and spares catalogue, original owner's manual and a copy of Bruce Dowells' book 'The Supreme Car', a hard-backed history of the Sunbeam motor car between 1899 and 1935. All in all, a lovely vintage Sunbeam with low ownership which has spent most of its life in the North of England and owned by a true Prewar car enthusiast.
