A Victorian silver pencil, by Sampson Mordan and Co., Circa 1880, modelled as a salmon, with suspension loop and realistically chased with scales, 5.5cm long closed

. The shaft of the pencil stamped 'S. Mordan & Co. There is overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a minor softening to the high points. The end of the pencil which should hold the lead is perhaps lacking.
