A George III Silver Tumbler-Cup, by Richard Richardson II, Chester, 1768, plain cylindrical and with gilt interior, 5.6cm diameter, 2oz 2dwt

A number of tumbler-cups by Richard Richardson II are recorded by M. H. Ridgway, Chester Silver 1727-1837, Worcester, 1985, pp. 165-168, including a pair which are respectively engraved 'The Foreman's Oath; and 'The Sheriffs Office' and hallmarked for 1749 (op cit., p.167, pl. 39). They are a very similar size to the present example.
